Day 42 ~ getting back into it

Day Forty-Two ~ September 13th, 2018

I nearly talked myself out of a run this afternoon and I’m glad that I didn’t. It’s been a few days since I last did one so a less than stellar performance in m opinion, but at least I did it anyway!

Summer is basically over here and the temps are getting cooler quicker than normal it feels like. Out on the trampoline for a bit this evening when the sun’s gone down and my toes were freezing. It feels great during the day, but the evenings already need a sweater.

Day 35 ~ some winter plans

Day Thirty-Five ~ September 6th, 2018

Between the infected tooth last week and then the antibiotics to combat that destroying me I opted for the hand written journal the last handful of days. Sitting down to type took a little too much effort when my body wasn’t remotely jiving with the fully upright business. Thankfully I am starting to feel better and the toothie culprit will be yanked out next week!

Day 24 ~ indoor track + excited wiggles…a mish-mash

Day Twenty-Four ~ August 26th, 2018

Hit up the track for a run later in the afternoon and it was great except for the random kids sneaking in and out of the place. Fully on-board with kids and physical activity, but not OK with unsupervised (little) kids going wild in a place/space that has rules. In any case, hopefully it doesn’t happen again and they were only around for about half of my run so that’s something at least. The rest of it I had the entire track to myself! It doesn’t happen too often and it will never happen once the cold weather hits in a few months. I am incredibly stoked to have at least six months worth of Zombie, Run missions to complete as that is what will get me through the winter months this year and beginning of the next!

Day 135 ~ please no tears

Day 135 ~ March 23rd, 2018

Today’s Calendar Word: orrery ~ a clockwork model of the solar system, of the sun, earth, and moon.

Today’s Calendar Quote:Nature…makes nothing in vain.” — Aristotle

A bit of hiccup-y morning with the kiddo because I don’t think he slept all that well last night. Thankfully it evened out by the afternoon though. Going through an entire day like this morning would have been a real challenge.

I zipped out to the track this morning for a real quick run and just killed it pace-wise. I wanted to go longer, but tomorrow is leg day and didn’t want to destroy my legs beforehand. I’m planning on keeping my longer runs for either Monday or Tuesday evenings. Hopefully it works for the former so my legs get a day of rest before the next leg day.

Day 132 ~ all by myself & it was good

Day 132 ~ March 20th, 2018

Today’s Calendar Word: bibliopole ~ a dealer in books.

Today’s Calendar Quote:When you paint Spring, do not paint willows, plums, peaches or apricots, but just paint Spring. To paint willows, plums, peaches or apricots is to paint willows, plums, peaches or apricots– it is not yet painting Spring.” — Dogen Zenji

There is probably some intellectual piece of wisdom in today’s quote, but I feel like it gets sidelined by the repetitiveness of painting all the things… Definitely not anywhere near one of my favourites from this calendar so far.

Day 123 ~ queen of the “W” questions

Day 123 ~ March 11th, 2018

Today’s Calendar Word: Mx. ~ a title of respect prefixed to a person’s surname. Unlike Mr., Mrs., or Ms., it does not indicate gender.

I’m trying to figure out a way to digitize my recipes and so far can’t see to come up with a good plan. I was going to move to a cue card box, but I honestly don’t want to write all of them out on cards. But having them in a binder isn’t working out either. It’s tough to store and it gets dirty are my too biggest annoyances with it. Anyway I will continue with the brainstorming and hopefully I can come up with a great solution.

Day 104 ~ I’ll take it!

Day 104 ~ February 19th, 2018

Today’s Calendar Word: bilboes ~ an iron bar with sliding shackles, used to fasten prisoners’ ankles.

Today’s Calendar Quote:The root of suffering is attachment.” — Buddha

So much sunshine, but it is bloody cold!!!!
I love the sun more than the horrible, overcast gray skies so I will absolutely take this over that “bleh”-ness any day even if I get a touch shiver-y.

I do some exercises to warm myself up if I get too cold like push-ups, jumping jacks, pull-ups, etc.
Or running if I have the time to fit one in because I don’t like to go for shorter than 20 minutes which is usually just over the 4km mark for me. I can hardly wait until I can get running back outside again because this in circles is getting rather boring even though it’s convenient. At least I am not stuck on a treadmill as that is definitely worse than running in circles in my opinion.

Day 98 ~ getting all the things done

Day 98 ~ February 13th, 2018

Today’s Calendar Word: varlet ~ an unprincipled rogue.

Today’s Calendar Quote:The man who has forgotten self may be said to have entered Heaven” — Zhuangzi

A productive day for the most part. I got the laundry done, everything out of my closet so I can organize it tomorrow, plan to change out the old kitchen table for a desk, got a coffee table for the living room, got rid of a few things, and got a bunch of things sorted out for my son’s schooling.

Once I get in a groove it’s so easy to just keep on going! I love when this happens and hopefully tomorrow will be similar in that I get at least as much done 🙂

Day 88 ~ why you always just do it

Day 88 ~ February 3rd, 2018

Today’s Calendar Word: transpicuous ~ transparent

True to form the last few weeks, Saturday morning is a time of relaxation or as much as is possible with the kiddo. He was quite the chatter box this morning too so I honestly didn’t get much “relaxing” done, but I love it when he independently engages with me, or others, instead of being in his own little space.

Day 65 ~ kidlet sonic feet!

Day 65 ~ January 11th, 2018

Today’s Calendar Word: knosp ~ a budlike ornament
Today’s Calendar Quote:There is a basket of fresh bread on your head, yet you go door to door asking for crusts.” — Rumi

A fantastic morning despite being incredibly sore from my core workout yesterday! Kidlet was in a great mood so that means the day start off on the right foot and it gives up more options to begin his schedule with as well.

This morning we went to the indoor track as I’ve wanted to take him for a while and not able to get it planned just right. All that changed this morning and he did amazing there and he had fun!! It was a mish-mash of walking and running but we ended up going just under two kilometers. I can’t wait to take him back again and I am ecstatic that he seems to actually like running!
