Day 9 ~ sunshine = smiles

Day 9 ~ November 16th, 2017

It was a beautiful day with more sunshine! I got out with the kiddo and a friend of mine this morning to a provincial park with some fun trails right in the area since I rarely go to them. We brought the nature home with us in the form of sticks and small stones. Likely paint and googlie eye the rocks and decorate the sticks with crafties 🙂 I was saying while we were out this morning that I should always bring a bucket with me because I always end up with stuff in my pockets by the end of the jaunt!

Day 50 ~ two times is no good

Day 50 ~ May 28th, 2017

This morning was the second race in the MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op) race series here in Kelowna. And I was not impressed once again for the following reasons:

1. The trail selected forced the racers to bottleneck into single file for most of the race, which caused a slow down in speed and runners tripping and/or falling.
2. Runners for the 10km had to run the same route TWICE. Awful! Especially in high twenty degree heat and inclines that you’ve already run at the first half of the race. Ones legs are already quite fatigued at this point. I would have preferred a looped run that had me running 5 km up and then 5 km down.
3. Pyschy-wise it’s tough to stay pumped up and do your best when you know you have to see everything all over again. Repetition is one of the biggest pet peeves that I have so this was extremely aggravating before I even left the house to go to the race.

An annoyance that I met for the last 5km was the runner paced behind me had a Bluetooth speaker playing music, which would have been fine if we were hiking, but I don’t enjoy music when I run and found this discourteous to myself and other participants. And because I don’t listen to music when I run (unless I am at the track), I found it distracting. Use your ear buds it’s courteous to the everyone else around you.

I did like that this run was out on trails this time though. I’ve never been on any of the trails in Rose Valley so it was cool to get a small ‘taste’ of the area and I will certainly go back to do some walking around them in the future.

So, that all said I am not super excited for the third race despite it being on the regular trail I use near my place. I imagine they will make up run to 5km and then turn around and run back which is stupid and I really don’t want to do that.

I think I am going to email the coordinator tomorrow and see the reasoning behind looped routes and what could maybe, be done to change that. Running from point A to point B is ideal whether in a full circle or a straight line as it kills monotony.

I should hopefully get race standings tomorrow, or if really lucky tonight. I’ll keep checking either way!

In other news… Only three weeks left of school and it doesn’t feel like enough time… I’m hoping to get everything done on time to at least get a decent mark. Glad that my schooling direction has changed as there’s no way I could handle more Math and Physics next year. Just no way.

I have the last Team Meeting tomorrow afternoon for my son’s schooling/programing. So, hopefully I can get everything for that wrapped up today and tomorrow morning. It will be nice to not have to send weekly updates for a few months as that gets so tedious combined with daily life and I often am not on my phone or computer.

Things I am grateful for/about today:

~ finishing the race even though I really didn’t want to
~ my plot in the community garden is doing nicely. All transplants and seedlings are doing awesome!
~ a nice cool shower after the race in the hear this morning
~ lovely conversation with a friend
~ it stays slightly chilled inside the house despite no A/C running and it so hot out

Day 49 ~ quick ‘n’ same old

Day 49 ~ May 22nd, 2017

Only a quick post as not much going on today aside the usual…

I wanted to spend so much time outside today, but I didn’t risk more than 30 minutes at a time because my shoulders, chest, and face is so sunburned. It should be lessened a fair bit by tomorrow though so I won’t be “stuck” inside all day long.
To make it worse, today dragged on forever it seems! Partly because I was up so early and the other is that I felt confined to the indoors. There was plenty of productivity, but more sunshine would’ve been my jam 🙂

I keep wanting to do another run this evening and I already did one this morning. The only things stopping me are the planned long run tomorrow and my legs are sore from the leg workout I did in the AM. Suffice it to say I am incredibly stoked for my run tomorrow!!!

Things that I am grateful for/about today:

~ my new desk
~ finding the pin to pump up the bosu ball and various other flat sports balls
~ I got some more Core Word Stories printed off this morning
~ cleaning up the pile of notes that accumulated on my desk. It’s slowly becoming smaller and smaller, but I’d like to get these all electronic in the future. Save on paper and be better organized.
~ having a game plan for how my day will look tomorrow! It’s going to be busy!

Cheers ~ ✌

Day 41 ~ *peeks* … spring?!

Day 41 ~ March 12th, 2017

Two days in a row of waking up with no snow on the ground and the sun is out too 😀 I am feeling hopeful this morning!

I think that it would be nice to head out for a walk in an hour or so to soak up some much need rays. Ideally I’d love to head out for a run, but the route I really want to do is probably way too muddy still so it’ll have to wait. I thought about running the pathway along the lake, but I can see that it’s super windy so that will be a frigid run (aka miserable). So, I will do some more indoor running later today or tomorrow. Tuesday or Wednesday I’ll see about getting outside for a good jaunt!

Things that I am grateful for/about today:

~ getting some of the SLP Core Word visual symbols cut out
~ I didn’t forget about the time change and got the clocks switched ahead first thing this morning
~ an awesome lat and shoulder workout!!
~ making silly wookie noises with my son. It’s so flippin’ cute! 🐱
~ having some quiet time

Cheers ~ ✌

Day 33 ~ sonic heel-toe express

Day 33 ~ February 24th, 2017

I was awake early this morning and it’s been quite productive! That’s such a good feeling ~
I would like this to be part of my daily regimen again because it helps me sleep better at night. I slept like a rock last night, I don’t think I changed positions once and then when I moved I ended up just getting out of bed.
Anyway… glad that the rest of the day was as productive I suppose!

Zipped my workouts and yoga out first thing this AM so all I need to do is a run a little later this afternoon. It’s warm(ish) and sunny out so I will attempt an outdoor run. So excited!! Definitely sick of running in circles at the track! The first race is coming up soon too, right at the start of April, so just over a month. Time is going by so quickly, 5 weeks isn’t that far away at all. Getting pumped it’s in area that I’ve walked and cycled before here (not the exact route, just the general area), but never ran anywhere nearby so it will be new for me.

Things that I am grateful for/about today:

~ that my day started so early so I’ve accomplished a lot today!
~ getting some banana bread baked
~ kind of being caught up on the laundry for once!
~ running outside!!!!!!!!
~ my son getting so excited about a squirrel in the back yard and sharing it with me 😀

Cheers ~ ✌

Day 27 ~ slowpoke fancy-pants & brain-syncing

Day 27 ~ January 29th, 2017

A fairly relaxing day I suppose… Went out for coffee with Hulkhands and that was nice 🙂
The sunshine was out and about throughout the day and I gave my car a wash on the way home as well. It needed it badly! I was amazed at how busy the car wash was this morning and there were so many fancy-pants that totally didn’t need a wash, but the peeps took their sweet A** time… *vexed face* Ahhhh oh well, at least I had the time to get it done today either way.

Other than getting some things tidied around the house, I basically worked on math homework most of the day. I finished everything I need to hand in on Tuesday before I write the Unit test and I am going to do the Unit quizzes shortly after posting. I’m glad this particular material seems to make more sense to me this time around. I think it’s just cause it was explained in more detail than it was in the review course last year. It was just not jivving with my noodle then, but elated that I seem to have sorted it out this year *fist pump* Hopefully the next unit is just as brain-syncing as this one!

Things I am grateful for today:

~ that I’ve come such long way with how patient I am with others
~ my son finds the act of putting a puzzle together so calming
~ washing my car from all the snow, road grime, and dirt
~ Hulkhands putting up the stationary pull-up bar
~ finishing up my current fitness program and challenges a day early

Cheers ~ ✌
