Day 49 ~ May 22nd, 2017
Only a quick post as not much going on today aside the usual…
I wanted to spend so much time outside today, but I didn’t risk more than 30 minutes at a time because my shoulders, chest, and face is so sunburned. It should be lessened a fair bit by tomorrow though so I won’t be “stuck” inside all day long.
To make it worse, today dragged on forever it seems! Partly because I was up so early and the other is that I felt confined to the indoors. There was plenty of productivity, but more sunshine would’ve been my jam 🙂
I keep wanting to do another run this evening and I already did one this morning. The only things stopping me are the planned long run tomorrow and my legs are sore from the leg workout I did in the AM. Suffice it to say I am incredibly stoked for my run tomorrow!!!
Things that I am grateful for/about today:
~ my new desk
~ finding the pin to pump up the bosu ball and various other flat sports balls
~ I got some more Core Word Stories printed off this morning
~ cleaning up the pile of notes that accumulated on my desk. It’s slowly becoming smaller and smaller, but I’d like to get these all electronic in the future. Save on paper and be better organized.
~ having a game plan for how my day will look tomorrow! It’s going to be busy!
Cheers ~ ✌
Day 48 ~ May 21st, 2017
Yesterday evening because the weather was so lovely out I sat out on the bench swing with my son. The sun was setting, we were rocking, he cuddled up to me, and I sang song after song for almost thirty minutes.
In these moments there is always so much clarity for my son. What I mean when I say this is that he is the epitome of regulated (calm), he speaks in full, clear, properly structured sentences (using the right pronouns, phrased questions/statements), and holds eye contact (his gaze doesn’t stutter all over the place) so I can see it in his eyes. It’s like for a handful of minutes the mutated gene(s) self-correct for that small amount of time and I get to see to the core of my little boy. It is a strange, treasured phenomenon that always makes my day 😀
Not much to mention today other than it was beautiful out! So I spent a large chunk of my day outside. Did some reading in the morning and then a short walk. Ended up going for another walk later in the afternoon and then sat out in the sun while I worked on my Math before dinner. It was so lovely and I am so sunburned, but it is worth it as it will turn into a tan!
Things that I am grateful for/about today:
~ that I’ve made getting my workout done first thing in the AM a habit
~ it’s the May long weekend and it isn’t raining!! This is so rare!
~ being outside for most of the day
~ got my herbs planted this afternoon
~ I noticed an increase flexibility in my hamstrings
And an extra on because I am so happy about this: BTS won the Top Social Award at the BBMAs this evening!!! Yays!!
Cheers ~ &x#270c;
Day 47 ~ May 20th, 2017
I feel like every day for the past two weeks has been so incredibly busy and yet I can’t recall what I’ve had going on for the most part!
School is coming to a close for myself and my son in a months time. This means I am trying to get the Pre-Calc course I am working on finished up and keep my son moderately on track with all of his stuff as well. I have all his lessons planned out from now until the last day of school so that is a huge organizational gain!
Coming to the tail end of “spring cleaning” this week. I finished downsizing the file cabinet from four drawers to two drawers. I haven’t gone through all of those in probably two or three years so I got rid of a ton of stuff and have a decent ‘to shred’ pile going on too.
Day 1 ~ The greatest lessons that I’ve learned
The first thing that comes to mind is:
To be more teachable! To take direction when I need it and full instruction when learning something new.
I can still have a difficult time with this, especially if what I am learning isn’t interesting at all. Part of the reason I struggle(d) so much with this is because I learn by physically interacting with whatever I’m learning or finding a direct application of it for daily use. Most often something is taught orally which is an impossible way for me to glean information and/or there is so much back story info that it muddles the important stuff.
I am loads better at this than when I was a teenager and I am a much more patient person as well so that only helps in situations like these.
The second thing is:
Carefully thought out words presented in a calm way when in an argument, or heated discussion, with someone are more effective than throwing swear words and blame around with raised voices.
I don’t like arguing, but I am not afraid of confrontation. This seems like an oxymoron I’m sure, but I don’t think confrontation needs to be loud or ugly. I think it can be a calm discussion, especially if both parties are adults.
Also, I am a big advocate for ‘both sides of the story’, perspective essentially. I don’t think any one person is right or wrong in an argument, what we think is just different and that is ok. The goal is simply to try ones best to understand each other even if you can’t agree on each others point of view.
Being able to do this has taken most of my twenties, and now it’s a much more natural reaction for the most part. I am not saying I never get mad/frustrated/annoyed at things or at someone, that would be a lie, but I do my best to stay calm in those kinds of situations. I never want to say something I will regret in a heated moment, because those things can’t be taken back and I am the type of person who will never intentionally hurt someone I care about. ever.
This is honestly one the things I am personally most proud of in my life.
Day 24 ~ A book that you wish more people would’ve read
There are countless books that I wish more people would read! I definitely can’t list them all here.
If I own a book(s), and I literally have a library, then I think it is worth everyone’s time to give it a read.

Ab Advanced Challenge D28 ~ 200 up & down planks ✔

This was much easier when I couldn’t see my timer counting down surprisingly.
I used to be the other way, needed to see it or it felt like time was dragging on, so it’s interesting that it has switched on me.
