Alright so this happened on Sunday (September 4th)! I ran the Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon and it was the longest distance in either official race, or just a personal run, that I have ever done. I thought the race photos might be out a little sooner, but it’ll be a few more days so I’ll post them when I have them 😀
Race start time was at 7AM and I was up just before 5AM to start a small warm-up before I even left the house and get a pre-workout into me too. It’s quite cold in the mornings already here, which is a little abnormal actually. I was very thankful that I coordinated what I was wearing perfectly for this run despite being so sleepy. And I was beyond thankful that it didn’t actually end up raining like the forecast said it was because that would have really sucked!

After making several attempts over the last year or so to do this number on my list, and sustaining injury each time, I finally I am able to say I can do it!!!!
I can attribute much of my success to programs and a specific experiment done through Darebee from the beginning of 2016 until now. The team in charge of that site, and all the bees in the Hive, are absolutely amazing!! 😀
Also, I’ve gotten real good at understanding my body and thankfully suffered no setbacks in the form of injuries either small or big. This aspect certainly has played a huge role in me accomplishing this physical goal as the biggest reason for failure in the past was an injury.
To the super, happy part of my day, I did two sets of 51 push-ups with a 2min rest between!!!!!!!!! The second set was to see if I totally fluked out or not, I wanted to be certain I could do it. I literally finished that second set and was so happy I actually jumped around and definitely did a happy dance hahaha
I might add a video in a day or two if I remember to make one when I do push-ups tomorrow or the next day 😛
Everyday I will be doing at least a hundred push-ups and I want to add in more variations to keep it interesting mentally and physically!!
Next up is tackling the 20 pull-ups in a row *fist pump*
As of February 29, 2016 I can officially mark this off my list 😀
Learning to meditate is something I wanted to learn for a long time and I’m glad the opportunity presented itself via Darebee and its monthly challenge, you can see it here.
I liked that it was simple, which makes sense because it is meant to be as uncomplicated as possible.
I particularly enjoyed the Equal Breathing, that got me right into the zone real quick! The OM Mantra totally didn’t work for me, because quite frankly it was so boring and made it seem like work. Moving from thought to thought until I ran out of things to think about and focusing on my breathing is what worked best for me.
And even though this challenge is finished I plan to continue doing ten to fifteen minutes, at least, a day for the foreseeable future as it is soooo relaxing ~ ~ !
One of my good friends asked if I wanted to do this with her this year and I agreed right away as it was on my Bucketlist as well!!
We debated doing our own swim as I live like five minutes from the lake or going downtown to the event that is being held this afternoon.
We obviously decided to do our own this year and we both would like to do it again next year. It’s likely we will probably do it as part of an event though.

Apparently we needed to look like “bosses”. Definitely not the image that is portrayed haha ~ Photo credit to Kevin Lavigne
I actually finished this at the beginning of the week, but I just kept forgetting to post this here.
I really, really wanted to get this done before the newest movie comes out next month. Not because I needed (or wanted) to have the movies fresh in my mind, that isn’t even necessary as I am such a huge fan, but I didn’t want to have to watch seven movies in one go haha
Sitting through just one movie is a HUGE challenge for me, so six movies was super difficult!! I’m very glad that I got this done 🙂
Lock Screenshots below from my phone for the start of each movie, needed to have some kind of proof that it happened!
Episode 1: The Phantom Menace ~ Start Time
Episode 2: Attack of the Clones ~ Start Time
Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith ~ Start Time
Episode 4: A New Hope ~ Start Time
Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back ~ Start Time
Episode 6: Return of the Jedi ~ Start Time
Thanks to Hulkhands for sticking it out through the first two movies and part of the third *thumbs up*
And thanks to my brother, Richie, for making it through the second movie to the fourth with me (plus, geeking out with me too :P)
The company was helpful for keeping me awake!
I need more friends who are as into Star Wars as I am ~~~ !!!!!
I finally sat down yesterday to take a look through my list and complied what I am working on at the moment or going to be starting now/soon.
(#2) Learn all songs by all artists/bands that I own and review/rate
~ This is always in progress! I might need to put a “ban” on acquiring new music for a time period so I actually make some forward progress 😛 I do have a few Music Review drafts that I just need to finish up and then I can post them. Lately, I am listening to Kpop and some older artists like Phil Collins, Goo Goo Dolls, and Bryan Adams.
(#12) Learn to box and/or kickbox
~ I got a few tips after a particular grueling class this summer with a friend and I practice several times a week at home. So glad I have my own equipment at home! Plus, I added Pylometric training into my workout regime and upped my plank routine too. It is no joke! Seriously. I would like to take a regular class eventually but for now this is adequate.
(#42) Get over my fear of heights
~ I am actually going to mark this one off. This summer I went rappelling and climbed the side of a cliff without any ropes(!), I would have gotten further if my arms weren’t off the short, t-rex variety! I wouldn’t say that heights don’t scare me anymore but I don’t let it stop/immobilize me from doing something anymore if it’s up high. This is an amazing feeling!! I need to give my brothers a huge thank you because the motivation of not being teased for the foreseeable future is rather great haha *thumbs up*
When I got to the Spring of this year I honestly questioned whether I would be able to actually accomplish this goal, I wasn’t sure I could physically pull it off. I suffered a few injuries throughout the summer (thanks to my own eagerness and pushing myself too hard *bad Val*) and therefore struggled to keep a consistent workout schedule for all types of training for a few months.
And now within the time frame I wanted to get this goal done in (before the end of October this year), I DID IT!!! * insert silly happy dance here* hahaha
My core will be so sore tomorrow ~~ Already feeling it in my obliques!
I just need to keep it up, which shouldn’t be a challenge as I have a good routine for the most part with my core workouts. Plus, I like having decent abs 😛
I will be focusing more on my push-up goal now, just over half way to my goal of 50 push-ups at the moment.
I had intended to do an update post a while ago now but I just haven’t had the time… I will try to fit it in today or tomorrow, providing that I get my son’s school lessons organized for the week done and my math unit done this morning!
