Day 46 ~ still winter in the nooks

Day 46 ~ April 23rd, 2017

Got out for a bike ride on the Myra Trestles this morning with Hulkhands and a friend. It was a perfect day for it! No wind or rain! There was still a fair bit of snow in the middle bit so we opted to turn around at that point because tromping in the snow with bikes is definitely not ideal, especially without fat tires. Give it another month or so and it will all be melted and we can head up again for a jaunt.

Thankfully I was thinking far enough ahead and took something to help deal with my allergies for the day. The two things I am most allergic to in this area are pollinating like crazy right now, so the eyes and nose are going haywire!

Day 45 ~ rainy day cuddles, procrastination killer

Day 45 ~ April 20th, 2017

My son was awake before 5:30 this morning and tromping out of bed shortly after then. Thankfully he was totally game to come cuddle with me in my bed. He even fell back to sleep there too! When my alarm went off thirty minutes later and I was getting up, he didn’t want to get up. I even asked him if he wanted “more sleep” and he very quietly, sleepy mumbled “more” and promptly started snoring again *chuckles* So, I tucked him back in and even now he is still snoozing away and it’s been just over an hour since I got up. He hasn’t done something like this with me in years and it felt nice 🙂

Day 44 ~ sporadic is my jam!

Day 44 ~ April 17th, 2017

Getting a daily post is definitely too optimistic I think for now… It’s too easy for me to decided not to do it by the end of the day and throughout the day I get interrupted too much and/or I just don’t have the time. It’ll likely become more frequent once this math course is finishes up and I have less have to do stuff on the computer. I guess I’ll see what transpires as the weather is getting nicer and I’ll be spending a ton of time outdoors when that happens.

So, the first thing that comes to mind is while typing is what my son was doing last night with me. I’m slowly trudging (and that might even be a bit of an understatement…) through this pre-Calc course so I was upstairs working on my laptop when my son joined me. I was laying down working through a quadratic inequality question and he laid down beside me and was completely focused (and quiet) on what I was doing. I spoke quietly through everything that I was doing and he seemed so interested in it. I even watched him scan the rest of my page afterwards and you could tell he was wondering what it all meant. It was a kind of cool moment with him that I wanted to mention 😀

Things that I am grateful for/about today:

~ running laps indoors with my son
~ I’m going to finish the Unit 6 lessons this afternoon
~ starting the new weight lifting split today for the next four weeks
~ some new playlists on Spotify so my ear nubs stay happy
~ I’ve finished up a handful of books in the last week or so

Day 43 ~ math droning & new fitness goals

Day 43 ~ April 15th, 2017

Ugh! It’s been a month since I last posted… >_> It’s difficult to do everything I want on the computer because I just can’t sit still for that long (even while typing this up I got up a handful of times to do something else, or push-ups) and I typically talk myself into doing Math, which is what I should be doing anyway. I hate how time-consuming, and boring, Pre-Calc 11 is! Thankfully I only have three Units and the Final left to do and then it’s done. Plus, it’ll be finished up well before the set end date for the course too.

I had my first race two weeks ago on the Westside and I think I will do a short post about that after I do this one. So more on that later!

I finished up three weeks of a body weight workout via a Hive member on Darebee yesterday and I loved it. There is a lot of room for progression strength-wise that I find extremely appealing and they are fairly quick workouts too. The idea behind it is something that I will re-visit in the future for sure. Next up is a 5 Day Split via another Hive member, called Iron Mode, and that starts this Monday. While I enjoy body weight workouts, I was definitely starting to miss tossing around the dumbbells so this will sate that desire for the next four weeks.

Two other things that I am going to focus on probably twice a week are holding a front lever and a planche. I am further along with the planche than I thought I would be, but not there yet. Front lever I am not close at all yet… I get to an advanced tuck and attempt to move to a single leg and I just drop down. So, hopefully lots of progress to happen over the next few months and my goal now is to be able to do these consistently by the end of 2017. Here’s hoping I can make it happen! 😀


Things that I am grateful for/about today:

~ creating some new fitness goals
~ getting out for a bike ride
~ my raspberry plant survived the transplant!
~ putting on good weight (muscle)
~ got my son’s passport photos done this week

Boxing Week ~ Day 7 ~ Fight Night Workout

I had a lot of fun with this last workout!!
I was lucky it was so nice out by the time I got my butt in gear this morning, so I could do this workout on my punching bag outside.

I decided to do all seven sets after I got to five sets as by that point another six minutes didn’t seem like that much time so why the heck not!
My kiddo even stuck around for the first few sets and did his best to do them with me before he distracted by bubbles & the water guns 😛
